Rockstar Quietly Opens Madrid Office Ahead of GTA 6 Launch

A job listing has revealed that Rockstar Games appears to have opened its first office in Madrid, Spain, positioning it as a regional marketing hub for the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America ahead of GTA 6's November 2026 launch.

Rockstar Games may have just opened a new office in Madrid, Spain — and the only reason anyone knows about it is a job listing spotted by Portuguese outlet Portal Viciados. There has been no official announcement, no press release, and no mention on the Rockstar Newswire.

The job listing is for a Communications Manager position focused on marketing for the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America. This signals that the Madrid office will serve as a regional marketing hub covering every Spanish and Portuguese-speaking market that matters for Grand Theft Auto 6's global launch.

The strategic timing is hard to ignore. Data from the ShinyHunters leak revealed that Spain ranks as the 10th most profitable country for GTA Online revenue, yet Rockstar has historically had essentially zero direct presence there. The new office is set to change that.

The scope of the Madrid office extends far beyond Spain alone. It covers Portugal, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and every other market where Rockstar can expand its commercial footprint through localized marketing and community engagement for hundreds of millions of Spanish and Portuguese speakers worldwide.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged in a March 2026 interview with The Game Business that the company has historically 'underserved' Latin America and other emerging markets, identifying India, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America as regions with significant growth potential.

The leaked revenue data paints a stark picture of the opportunity. The United States alone generates roughly six times the revenue of the United Kingdom, the second-place country, while seven of the top 10 revenue-generating countries are European. Yet major Latin American markets like Brazil — the fifth-largest gaming market in the world — barely register in GTA Online's revenue rankings.

A possible explanation is that GTA Online's microtransaction economy has never been properly localized for Latin American currencies, purchasing power, or cultural contexts. Rockstar has historically relied on centralized English-language marketing from New York and the Rockstar North office in Edinburgh, with localization handled at the product level rather than the marketing level.

The Madrid office changes this approach fundamentally. By placing staff in the same time zone as Spain and only a few hours offset from major Latin American markets, Rockstar can coordinate physical retail presence, localized social media strategy, and region-specific community events that were previously impossible to manage from North America or the UK.

Seven months before GTA 6's scheduled November 19, 2026 launch, Rockstar is quietly assembling the infrastructure for what could be the largest game release in history — and that now includes reaching markets the company has never properly served before.
