Rockstar Games Hacked Again — ShinyHunters Demanding Ransom by April 14
Hacker group ShinyHunters breached Rockstar Games via third-party SaaS tool Anodot, demanding ransom by April 14, 2026. Rockstar confirms limited non-material data was accessed with no impact on players.
Rockstar Games has been hit by another cyberattack. Hacker group ShinyHunters claims to have breached the studio via a vulnerability in the third-party SaaS monitoring tool Anodot, setting a ransom deadline of April 14, 2026.
ShinyHunters, known for a series of high-profile breaches including Panera Bread and Salesforce, claims to have gained access to Rockstar's internal servers by compromising authentication tokens on the Snowflake platform, which also uses Anodot. Stolen data allegedly includes financial information, marketing plans, and potentially details about GTA 6's budget, rumored to be around $3 billion.
Rockstar officially confirmed the breach in a statement to IGN: "We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organisation or our players."
This is not the first time Rockstar has been breached. In 2022, teenager Arion Kurtaj hacked the company through a third-party application and leaked extensive GTA 6 development materials, including gameplay footage. He was ultimately deemed unfit to stand trial, yet the breach resulted in a massive leak of the future game's assets.
Despite the new breach, Rockstar assures that the GTA 6 release on November 19, 2026 remains unchanged. The exclusive launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is still on track.
