A GTA 6 Developer Publicly Told Bloomberg Journalist Jason Schreier to Stop 'Poking His Nose' Into Rockstar — Then Vanished
Saikat Koley, a lead character artist at Rockstar Games, publicly replied to a fan post on X calling out Jason Schreier, writing: 'We don't want him poking his nose into our company and project.' The post went viral and Koley deactivated his account hours later.
Saikat Koley, a lead character artist at Rockstar Games, replied to a fan account's post on X calling out one of the most well-sourced journalists covering Grand Theft Auto 6. The reply was blunt and unambiguous: "We don't want him poking his nose into our company and project."
The "him" was Jason Schreier, the Bloomberg journalist who has covered GTA 6's development more aggressively and more accurately than any other reporter in the industry. The fan post that prompted the response featured a photo of Schreier with the caption: "Waiting for this guy to finally drop something good about GTA 6."
Within hours of the reply going viral, Koley deactivated his X account. The reply is gone. The internet, as always, has the receipts. Screenshots of the post have been preserved and circulated across gaming communities worldwide.
The Rockstar-Jason Schreier feud goes back years. In November 2023, Schreier reported that Rockstar would reveal a GTA 6 trailer in early December, hours before the official announcement — spoiling a moment the studio had planned as part of its 25th anniversary celebration. According to insider Tez2, Sam Houser wanted to delay the announcement by a week "just to screw with Schreier" but was talked out of it by other executives.
Rockstar does not allow its employees to speak publicly about ongoing projects. Koley's reply violated that policy. The deactivation of his account appears to have followed a conversation with his supervisors.
The frustration at Rockstar is real, but industry observers note it is misdirected. Schreier was simply doing his job — obtaining information from sources and publishing it accurately. The source who provided the information to Schreier is the person who violated Rockstar's trust, not the journalist.
Jason Schreier, characteristically, has not responded to the incident.
