GTA 6 PC Release Date Unexpectedly Confirmed By Rockstar Devs

Ex-Rockstar developers reveal GTA VI PC version is aiming for February 2027, with Take-Two and Rockstar wanting to maximize profits from the blockbuster launch.

While console gamers have a confirmed November 19, 2026 release date to look forward to, PC users haven't been so fortunate — until now. Rockstar developers have been surprisingly chatty as of late, and that's all changed.

DetectiveSeeds on X apparently reached out to several ex-Rockstar devs who'd worked on GTA VI prior to leaving the company. They reported back with the following: 'Grand Theft Auto VI is aiming to release the PC version in February 2027. All stated this timeline could shift, but Take-Two and Rockstar wanted to get the game out before the end of fiscal year. I reached out to over 90 people, Three answered me.'

The reasoning behind this strategy makes a lot of sense. Rockstar and Take-Two will both want to maximise profits, and with GTA VI expected to make millions in just its first couple of weeks of release, it adds up why the companies would want the PC version released sooner rather than later to capitalise on the launch hype.

Whether the PC version will be superior to the console versions is another question entirely. PC users will likely benefit from better performance provided their hardware is up to scratch, and they'll also have access to mods — though they won't be able to take these into the new version of GTA Online. With consoles like the PlayStation 5 Pro on the market though, the real difference will likely be minimal.
