GTA 6 Official Price Update Confirmed Ahead Of Trailer 3 — Take-Two CEO Reaffirms 'Reasonable' Approach

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed GTA 6 pricing at the iicon conference, reaffirming the company's commitment to a 'reasonable' price point. While refusing to confirm exact figures, Zelnick indicated the $100 hyper-premium price tag is unlikely, suggesting standard pricing instead.

The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is drawing closer with each passing day, and November really doesn't seem very far away at all, given how long fans have already been waiting. That said, very little is known about what the final product will actually be like, which remains a slight concern given that we're roughly six months out from the big day.

Happily, there are some small signs of movement — not least backend uploads to the PlayStation and Xbox stores which mark the first step toward the game being made available for purchase. Now, more information has come to light from the game's publisher that should be encouraging news for fans who were worried about pricing.

As first reported by IGN, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently appeared at the iicon conference for game development executives, and he shared some interesting insights with the audience, including on the company's approach to pricing something as complex and popular as GTA VI.

"Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery. How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got," Zelnick said.

"If you look at it through that lens, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But that isn't the lens through which we look. Instead, we look at… how do we deliver something amazing, and how do we make sure that what people pay for it feels very reasonable."

It's actually quite an encouraging stance to take, and though he wouldn't go as far as naming the specific price that they are planning to list GTA VI for, it seems unlikely that fans are getting the previously mooted hyper-premium $100 price point for the standard edition of the game.

The fact remains that if Rockstar and Take-Two can deliver the game that everyone is expecting, with the level of detail, scope and ambition that the industry anticipates, then the company may have a genuine blockbuster on its hands — regardless of the final price tag.

Zelnick certainly seems to be aiming to sell a game worth more in entertainment value than any other video game ever: "What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history — and it's a pretty daunting challenge," he concluded.
