GTA 6 could bring back major Red Dead Redemption 2 features according to dev
Former Rockstar audio designer Rob Carr suggests that GTA 6 will likely borrow standout systems from Red Dead Redemption 2, just as GTA 5 incorporated the Dead Eye ability. Fans speculate that features like random encounters, safehouses, or even an honor-like reputation system could make their way into Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is still under wraps, but one former developer has already suggested we'll see some familiar Red Dead Redemption 2 features littered throughout the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 remains one of Rockstar Games’ most iconic releases, praised for its amazing storytelling, stunning visual details, beloved layered characters, and deeply immersive mechanics. Alongside it sits the Grand Theft Auto series, another cornerstone of the studio's success.
Well, now a former developer who worked on both Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 has suggested that fans will likely see some familiar features from Red Dead Redemption 2 in the upcoming GTA adventure.
GTA 6 could feature iconic Red Dead Redemption 2 mechanics
Speaking to YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, former Rockstar Games audio designer, Rob Carr, suggested that some of Red Dead Redemption 2’s standout systems are almost certain to influence GTA 6, explaining that he'd "be surprised if they don’t use something from Red Dead 2."”
Having features from previously popular games isn't a huge stretch. As explained by Carr, Rockstar's actually done it before: "Even on GTA 5, they took the Dead Eye system," the developer explained. "They used the Dead Eye as one of the perks for one of the characters. You’ve got the Dead Eye thing that Michael used, I think you’ve got the slow-mo driving thing for Franklin, and the basically berserker mode for Trevor."
So if GTA 5 did it, it's pretty easy to see how Red Dead Redemption 2 could shape GTA 6 considerably. Of course, we don't yet know what similar features we'll see in the upcoming game, but there's always space for the title to use similar random encounters or larger mechanics like RDR2's horse riding.
It may be a reach, but given that the two protagonists seem to be criminals, there's potentially space for camps in Red Dead 2 to turn into safehouses, or a reputation system similar to the western game's honor system. Alternatively, smaller details like weapon maintenance could always be present.
As mentioned above, Carr didn't reveal exactly what new features we could see, but he seems confident that fans of RDR2 will see some familiar features in GTA 6.
