Vice City Map Guide: Size, Locations, and What to Expect from Rockstar's Return to Miami

GTA 6 returns to Vice City — Rockstar's fictional version of Miami. Here's what the leaked data and official reveals tell us about the map size, key locations, and new features in the largest GTA world ever created.

GTA 6 returns to Vice City for the first time since 2002's GTA: Vice City, and Rockstar has confirmed that the new iteration will be the largest and most detailed game world ever created in a Grand Theft Auto title. Based on data from the January 2022 ShinyHunters leak, the main Vice City map would be approximately five times larger than GTA V's Los Santos.

The Vice City metropolitan area is expected to cover the fictional version of Miami's famous beachfront districts, including fully explorable beach areas with working beaches, hotels, nightclubs, and luxury high-rise condominiums. The leak suggested the urban core alone would include over 90 distinct districts with unique architecture, NPC behaviors, and interaction opportunities.

Beyond the urban core, the game world extends into rural and suburban areas. Leaked concept art references 'the Keys' — islands and coastal areas inspired by the Florida Keys, complete with mangrove forests, isolated beach communities, and a network of bridges and waterways — representing an entirely new biome for the GTA series.

Vice City's famous nightlife is expected to be a major gameplay feature. Rockstar has confirmed that the game's dynamic time and weather systems mean the city transforms between day and night in ways that affect gameplay, NPC schedules, and available activities. Nightclubs have been heavily featured in official materials, with fully functional dance floors, DJ booths, and VIP areas.

Traffic and infrastructure in Vice City will include working traffic lights, diverse road layouts, and a comprehensive public transit network. The leak suggested over 1,000 unique vehicle types including cars, boats, aircraft, and an expanded marine system allowing players to pilot boats, jet skis, and seaplanes across the waterway network.

The level of environmental detail is expected to far exceed any previous Rockstar game. Individual NPCs have been described as having unique daily routines, social media accounts, jobs, and relationships — making each player's experience of the city genuinely unique. NPCs can reportedly form their own relationships, businesses, and conflicts independent of player interaction.

GTA 6 will feature multiple distinct regions beyond Vice City itself. While Rockstar has not officially confirmed this, multiple data points from the leak suggested a second, unnamed state area — potentially a rural, swampy region inspired by the Florida Everglades — would be explorable alongside the main Vice City area.
