A fan-discovered detail in GTA 6's second trailer reveals that NPC drivers can now overtake from oncoming lanes, signaling a major leap in AI behavior and open-world realism.
Part 1
With the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI launching in December 2023 and the second following in May 2025, fans have been eagerly dissecting every frame for clues about the highly anticipated title. Although Rockstar has yet to release an official gameplay trailer, the community continues to uncover hidden details that suggest the game will be far more advanced than its predecessors.
Part 2
In previous months, fans have already spotted next-gen features in GTA VI's trailers, and it seems as though this latest discovery is further proof that Rockstar is going all out when it comes to realism, especially on Leonida's roads. Spotted by one user over on r/GTA6, it seems as though driving will be a lot riskier, as NPC drivers will now be able to overtake other vehicles, even from oncoming lanes. Gone are the days when drivers will wait in queues of traffic. It seems as though they will be in just as big of a rush as you and will try and overtake at any possibility, which could lead to even more crashes than usual. 'If you look at the bikers on the right corner, you can see they are actually overtaking from the oncoming lane. I think this is new, so NPC driving and riding is also improved,' the post reads.
Part 3
This is just one example of the various improvements Rockstar is seemingly making when it comes to key features of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. After all, the 'auto' part plays a large role, and causing mayhem on the roads is about to hit fever pitch if this discovery is true.
