GTA 6 'Rival' Confirms PS5 and Xbox Launch Following PC Release

Samson, the open-world brawler from Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg, is making its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year after a troubled PC launch.

Part 1

Once hailed as a worthy Grand Theft Auto VI rival, Samson — the gritty open-world action title from Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg — recently launched on PC to a less-than-warm reception. The game failed to resonate with critics and players alike, landing a Metascore score of just 50 and a User Score of 5.4.

Part 2

Many of Samson's issues stem from bugs and glitches that, while unacceptable at launch, can potentially be fixed. "Samson is the game I really wanted to enjoy, but all of the bugs and awkward controls led to too many frustrating moments. When the combat works, it can be fun, but it's rare for this to happen," wrote SteamDeckHQ in its review. "I can see through to the vision of what the game could be and how much fun it is when it's all running smoothly. But at launch, that's simply not the case," added WCCFTech.

Part 3

The developers at Liquid Swords have been busy since launch, vowing to address the bugs, and have now announced that Samson will be coming to consoles later this year. While the exact platforms weren't confirmed, it's expected to include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at the very least. For PC players, patches are rolling out on a weekly basis heading into May, with updates focused on combat refinements, new car variants, performance optimisation, and community-driven fixes.
