'GTA 6' is 200 Days Away, So It's Time to Brace for a New Trailer (or Delay)
With exactly 200 days to go until the confirmed November 19, 2026 launch, the milestone has reignited speculation over whether Rockstar Games will use May’s Take-Two earnings call to finally drop Trailer 3 and open pre-orders.
Key update
With exactly 200 days to go until Grand Theft Auto VI’s confirmed November 19, 2026 launch, the milestone has reignited intense speculation over whether Rockstar Games will finally break its months-long silence with a new trailer.
Why it matters
The milestone was marked on Sunday, May 3rd, making this the closest the world has ever been to an actual GTA VI release date. But with the game still over six months away and two delays already in the books — from Fall 2025 to May 2026, and ultimately to November 2026 — the gaming community remains understandably cautious.
What to watch
The question on everyone’s mind: will Rockstar drop Trailer 3 before Take-Two’s earnings call on May 21st? One industry commentator noted that Rockstar has strong financial incentive to release a new trailer as soon as possible to stoke fresh hype for the most anticipated game in years, with analysts projecting up to $7 billion in revenue in the first two months alone.
Context
While the holiday 2026 window is considered ideal for a launch, insiders warn that a further delay is not off the table. Rockstar developers are reportedly working “embarrassingly long hours” to make the November deadline — with anonymous Glassdoor reviews revealing that some staff are being asked to complete six months’ worth of work in just two to three months.
Bottom line
“Rockstar is not about to mess with literally the perfect release date,” one analyst wrote, adding that a new trailer showcasing how far the game has come makes far more sense than another postponement. Fans are now watching closely for any announcement before the May 21st earnings call, with many hoping pre-orders will also go live this month.
