GTA 6 Trailer History: Complete Analysis of Every Official Rockstar Trailer Released So Far
From the December 2023 teaser to Trailer 2 in 2025, Rockstar has released several trailers building anticipation for GTA 6. Here's the complete timeline and what each trailer revealed.
Key update
Rockstar Games' GTA 6 announcement came on November 1, 2022 — breaking with the studio's tradition of announcements at industry events. Rockstar simultaneously confirmed a trailer would release in early December 2022, generating unprecedented media coverage.
Why it matters
The announcement teaser on December 5, 2022 was a short 1-minute teaser revealing virtually nothing substantive — no gameplay footage or confirmed release window. It quickly became the most-viewed video game trailer of all time, reaching 60 million views in 24 hours.
What to watch
GTA 6 Trailer 1 arrived on December 5, 2023 — one year after the announcement. This was Rockstar's first proper look at the game, confirming Vice City, introducing Lucia as the series' first female protagonist, and showing extensive footage of the game's environments.
Context
Following the May 2025 delay announcement, Rockstar released Trailer 2 to provide a fresh look at the game. This trailer expanded significantly, showcasing Lucia in full voice acting, Jason prominently, and more of Vice City's diverse environments.
Bottom line
Trailer 2 revealed more of Vice City's diverse environments beyond beachfront areas — including rural swamp areas, dense urban neighborhoods, and an expanded waterway system. The trailer showcased a much wider variety of vehicles.
Update 6
The soundtrack in GTA 6's trailers has been notable. Trailer 1 featured 'Jump' by Villa Rosa. Trailer 2 featured a synth-wave inspired track that fans identified as potentially original music composed specifically for Rockstar.
Update 7
Rockstar has confirmed Trailer 3 will release before the November 19, 2026 launch. Trailer 3 is expected to be the most substantial look at the game yet — Rockstar has historically used their third trailer for major reveals.
